Keta (VR), Dec 13, GNA – Market women at Keta in the Volta Region have expressed optimism and hope in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to improve the country’s economic situation after winning the 2024 general election.
The women believed that the win for NDC and the Flagbearer John Dramani in the just ended general election would create more jobs, changes and revamp the economy to benefit all.
Madam Fakor Tsikata, a tomatoes seller in the Keta market, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the win for NDC had brought back hope and smile on the faces of many marketers and many were optimistic that the economy and the price of commodities would also normalised.
She said many believed that NDC and experienced John Dramani Mahama would restructure and re-strategise to put the economy back to alleviate the hardship bestowed on Ghanaians.
“We believed and trusted the collaboration of NDC Members of Parliament and President John Dramani Mahama to deliver all the promises made to reset the country to benefit everybody, the hardship is just too much,” she stated.
She lamented about how patronahe of goods and products were poor and urged all well-meaning Ghanaians to support the president-elect John Dramani Mahama to uplift the nation’s status to the best.
Madam Angela Blebu and Madam Ablorshie Tameklo, cosmetic and food vendor respectively, told the GNA that the living condition of many Ghanaians were very bad which called for the change in power.
“You see my brother, we don’t have a choice than to bring back John Dramani Mahama and the NDC since the NPP has failed us tremendously and we have no other option.”
They urged the NDC to be more different and rebuild a stronger confidence and trust from the public.
Some other constituents GNA spoke with appealed to the incoming NDC government to address other challenging issues which include roads, education, health, sports, water and high cost of electricity, among others.
Mr John Dramani Mahama, was pronounced the winner of the general election with 56.55 per cent beating his closest contender Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, who had 41.61 per cent votes.
Mr Dzudzorli Gakpey, the incumbent, won the the Keta constituency seat with 29,471 votes to beat other candidates to retained his seat.
