The four-member executive, took the oath of office at a short ceremony that was supervised by Mr Kofi Ampeah-Woode, the Former Dean of the DPC.
The executives would be responsible for the affairs of over 50 journalists who report on issues regarding the military in Ghana.
The new executives are made up of Mr Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alogbey, the new Dean of the DPC, Mr Shadrach Odame his Vice, Madam Gifty Amofa, as the DPC Secretary and Miss Christiana Afua Nyarko, as the Financial Secretary.
Mr Ampeah-Woode in a speech, encouraged the new executives to abide by the group’s aims and objectives and the Ghana Journalists Association’s code of ethics.
This, he said would distinguish them in setting a good example to other media practitioners in the industry.
“…if we as professionals would stick to these aims and objectives and owned them individually, our aspirations as a group would be achieved,” he said.
Mr Ampeah-Woode also advised members of the Corp to support the new executives on the discharge of their duties.
“Let us continue to show loyalty as we brace ourselves for more challenging times ahead,” he said.
On his part, Mr Gold-Alorgbey, the new Dean, in his acceptance speech, said the new DPC leadership would do its best to ensure the continuous growth and development of the Corp.
“As the new Leadership Team, we are fully aware of the weight of responsibility on our shoulders. We cannot, and will not, fail the DPC or the public in our mandate,” he said.
Mr. Gold-Alorgbey used the occasion to appeal to the military high command and its various units and departments, to cooperate with and support the DPC by supplying timely and accurate information to members to help combat misinformation and speculation on issues pertaining to the military.
“…we need your cooperation in ensuring that accurate and timely information is made available to us. Only through such cooperation can we effectively dispel misinformation and reduce speculation about the military’s activities,” he added.
The DPC is a media association made of up journalists who report on matters of the military and other security issues.
The group, established in 2019, formally became an official association recognised by the Ghana Armed Forces in 2021 after it had officially elected its first executives.
