Lady Dora marks 60th birthday with health screening exercise

Accra, June 18, GNA—Lady Reverend Mrs Dora Tackie-Yarboi, President of Chosen Woman Ministry on Saturday marked her 60th birthday with a health screening exercise for the Sempe and Lighthouse Community members at Mantse Agbona at Jamestown.

The Ministry, as part of the screening exercise, also embarked on a community feeding of about 3,000 people.

The community members were screened for Hypertension, Diabetes, Breast diseases, Malaria, viral Hepatitis (B and C), Obesity, Eye problems, nutritional deficiencies amongst children and adults.

Children were also de-wormed and medications given out freely to those who suffered from any of the ailments. 

Lady Dora, who doubles as the First Lady of Victory Bible Church International, said the medical outreach, organised annually to create awareness and provide medication for illnesses that were prevalent in communities, formed part of the Chosen Woman Ministry’s service to the marginalised in society.

She noted that the journey to attaining her Diamond Jubilee had not been easy, however, by God’s grace, diligence, and hard work, she made it.

The Woman of God advised the youth to avail themselves for grooming and take their education seriously.

She also advised them to be careful about the company or associations they kept, because it had the tendency to impact their lives either positively or negatively.

Lady Dora urged government to continue rolling out programmes geared towards improving the lives of Ghanaian women and provide financial support to female entrepreneurs.

Mr Samuel Opoku, 54 years of age and a beneficiary of the health screening exercise, lauded the Ministry for the thoughtfulness to reach out to meet the health needs of the community.

He urged the leadership of the Chosen Woman Ministry to extend the kind gesture to other communities.

Madam Beatrice Aryeetey Adjin, 44 years old, said the health exercise had made her more conscious of her wellbeing and advised Ghanaians to regularly run medical checkups.

The Chosen Woman Ministry creates a forum where pastor’s wives and women in ministry are inspired and equipped to impact their various ministries or churches.  

The Ministry engages participants in an interactive discourse to augment their ministry and equip them to show forth the deeds of God.

It provides an atmosphere of fellowship, encouragement and peer learning for pastors’ wives and women in ministry. This is to challenge them to put biblical principles into action with the view to strengthen their families and enhance the work of the local church.

The Chosen Woman Conference is held biannually in June and November during, which seasoned Women and Men of God are usually invited to minister and interact with participants.
