Accra, Nov. 05, GNA -The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three members of a suspected outlaw motorcycle gang believed to be terrorising residents within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects have been identified as Sharif Mahmud, 23; Abdallah Karim, 25, and James Alena, 25.

This was contained in a press release issued by Superintendent of Police Godwin Atsu Ahianyo, Head of the Command’s Public Affairs Unit and copied the Ghana News Agency said.

The release said, “The gang is alleged to have been engaging in illegal midnight motorcycle racing by taking over public roads, attacking and robbing unsuspecting passersby, thereby creating fear and insecurity among residents in the area.”

Superintendent Ahianyo said the Command had been monitoring the activities and movements of the group as part of sustained efforts to apprehend its members, who had consistently evaded arrest.

However, at about 0140 hours on Sunday, November 1, 2026, a police team intercepted the gang at Suame in Kumasi. The operation resulted in the arrest of Mahmud, Karim and Alena, aged 25, whilst several other members managed to escape, the release stated.

It said the three had been granted police inquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned when Judicial Service Staff calls off its indefinite nationwide strike which began on Monday, November 2.

Meanwhile, investigations continue and efforts are underway to track down and arrest the remaining members of the group, Superintendent Ahianyo noted.

“The Ashanti Regional Police Command assures the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order and urges residents to volunteer credible information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the fleeing suspects,” he appealed.
