South Korea confirms successful launch of Nuri rocket

Seoul, Oct 7 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – The South Korean Nuri rocket has successfully placed five ultra-small satellites into orbit, Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) chief Oh Taeseog said on Wednesday.

The South Korean Nuri launch vehicle, carrying five ultra-small Neonsat satellites, lifted off at 03:25 GMT from the Naro Space Center on the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula. After that, by 03:42 GMT, all the five satellites, designed for natural disaster monitoring, and 10 ultra-small satellites, also known as cubesats separated from the rocket.

It is the first time that the liftoff took place exactly on schedule, the KASA head said at a briefing following the Nuri launch.

One of the ultra-small Neonsat satellites has already successfully established contact with the ground station at the King Sejong Antarctic research center, with the remaining four satellites expected to establish contact by 07:30 GMT on Wednesday, Oh said.

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) is currently conducting a more detailed analysis of the data obtained, and the final results of the Nuri mission will soon be established, the KASA head added.

This was the fifth South Korea’s Nuri rocket launch. The previous launch took place on November 26, 2025. At that time, the rocket placed into orbit the main CAS500-3 satellite, designed for space scientific research, and 12 cubesats.
