Accra, Oct. 25, GNA – The Ministry of Roads and Highways has won the Public Sector PR Organisation of the Year award for the second consecutive time at the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana Excellence Awards.
The award recognises the Ministry’s efforts to improve public communication, stakeholder engagement and access to information on road infrastructure development.
The IPR Ghana citation said the Ministry had distinguished itself through timely dissemination of information on road projects and the use of innovative communication tools to engage the public.
This year’s awards ceremony, held in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, recognised public institutions that demonstrated leadership in communication and applied public relations best practices to promote public trust.
The Institute commended the strategic and professional work of the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, led by Alhaji Nasir Ahmad Yartey, a public relations practitioner and development communication professional with more than 17 years of experience in Ghana’s public sector.
It said the Unit had strengthened proactive media engagement, community outreach programmes and relationships with key stakeholders to keep the public informed about road infrastructure projects across the country.
The Ministry had also introduced digital communication tools to improve access to road development updates, enhanced social media reporting, used visual storytelling to showcase infrastructure progress and strengthened crisis communication systems, it said.
In 2022, the Ministry received the Best Social Media PR Unit award at the Government PROs Excellence Awards, while Mr Yartey was named second runner-up in the PRO of the Year category.
The Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining communication reforms, deepening engagement with citizens and supporting the delivery of safe, resilient and modern road infrastructure.
The IPR Ghana Excellence Awards is a major event for recognising individuals and institutions for outstanding performance, accountability and innovation in public relations practice and professional communication.
