Winneba (C/R), Oct. 28, GNA- Mr Wilberforce Andrews, a Human Rights Activist, has stated that the continuous growing political polarisation in the country posed a threat to national cohesion, the rule of law and development.
“Elections determine who holds office temporarily, but citizenship and shared destiny will remain long after the ballots are counted, hence we must protect Ghana, the only country we have and to let its development be our topmost priority rather than our individual interests,” he said
He urged Ghanaians to put aside their political colours and contribute towards the development of, and well-being of the people.
Mr Andrews, also a philanthropist and member of the United Nations Association-Ghana (UNA-GH) National Advisory Council, made the call in an interview with the media after donating some office stationeries to the headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in Accra.
He said he was mentored by the late UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, and had since been participating in the development of the country, extending support where necessary, and hence the gesture to support operations of the party during their internal elections.
Mr Andrews called on all citizens to use their expertise devoid of partisan divisions to prioritise national development for the country to grow to the benefits of all.
In an appreciation to Mr Andrews, Mr Emmanuel S Zumakpeh the Director of Administration at the NDC Headquarters expressed appreciation for the ‘generous donation.’
“This thoughtful contribution will greatly support the administrative work of the Party, and we are grateful for your consistent kind gesture and commitment to our collective cause.”
He assured him that the donation would be put to effective use in advancing the work of the Party.
Mr Andrews is a chartered accountant by profession, an Independent Presidential Candidate in the 2024 elections and also a member at large with the American White House Administration on governance and infrastructure development.
He is also a member of the International Monitory Fund (IMF), subscriber on global economic issues.
