Accra, Oct. 13, GNA – The Western North Regional House of Chiefs has paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency in Accra to congratulate him on his victory in the 2024 general election and thank him for development projects in the region.
The delegation, led by Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs, also presented a list of concerns for the President’s consideration.

President Mahama, who welcomed the delegation, appealed to chiefs and traditional rulers to support the Government’s efforts to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, and protect the country’s natural resources.
“We need your support in the fight against illegal mining. It is our hope that as we implement the New Economy Policy and create alternative livelihoods for our young people, we will discourage many of those who risk their lives in galamsey,” he said.
