The donation was in response to an appeal made by the Foundation for support for school children, who recently participated in the Otumfuo Reading Competition.

Nana Osei Kofi, speaking at the event, said the appeal coincided with his 13th anniversary celebration of his enstoolment, during which he donated tablets, cash and other items to children in his community.

He said it was important to support the poor and needy because such children could in future occupy prominent positions and contribute to national development.

He urged the Foundation to engage more traditional leaders to solicit support for needy, vulnerable, and physically challenged persons in society.

Nana Osei Kofi also spoke about the growing relationship between Asanteman and Asanteman Norway, saying, the partnership was aimed at promoting development in Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.

He said the relationship was established to offer students the opportunity to travel to Norway to further their education.

According to him, the partnership would create exchange programmes and training opportunities for people in the Ashanti Region.

He noted that, Norway had expertise in converting waste into reusable materials, and the collaboration would enable Ghanaians to acquire knowledge in that area.

He said preparations were underway to implement the initiative, which would help reduce waste pollution and create jobs for the youth.

He added that, the programme would facilitate exchange programmes for the youth, while allowing Norwegians to also visit Ghana to share knowledge.

Meanwhile, Nana Kota Ntiamoah, Asanteman Norway-hene and Manwerehene of Sabin Akrofrom, said in an interview that, Asante customs and traditions were being demonstrated and upheld in Norway to promote Asante culture.

He said Asante youth in Norway were being taught the culture to instil good values in them and to ensure they do not forget their roots.

He said online Twi classes were being organised to teach people how to speak the Asante language, adding that, it was an opportunity for Ghanaians living abroad who wished to learn the language.

He expressed delight at how foreigners had embraced Asante culture.

Mr Hayford Tweneboah Kodua, Programmes Manager of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, expressed gratitude to Nana Osei Kofi and appealed to others to support the Foundation.

He said the items would go a long way to help the children improve their education.
