Barekese (Ash), Oct. 01, GNA – Nwabiagya Community Bank PLC recorded a 26.84 per cent increase in its total assets in 2025, rising from GHS 336.47 million in 2024 to GHS 426.78 million.
The bank also recorded significant growth in its gross loans and advances, which increased by 52.13 per cent from GHS 35.33 million to GHS 53.75 million during the period.
Professor Samuel Adjei-Nsiah, Board Chairman of the bank, disclosed this at the 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the bank held at Barekese, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
He said the growth reflected the bank’s resilience and improved financial position despite the challenging and competitive operating environment, including increased competition from universal banks and fintech companies.
Prof. Adjei-Nsiah said shareholders’ funds also increased substantially by 224.5 per cent, from GHS 6.17 million in 2024 to GHS 20.03 million in 2025.
He attributed the performance partly to the continued confidence and support of customers, shareholders, management, and staff of the bank.
Prof. Adjei-Nsiah said the bank had also expanded its microfinance scheme to improve access to financial services, particularly farmers, traders and operators of cottage industries.
He encouraged people in those sectors to form groups and enroll in the scheme to access financial support to expand their businesses.
The Board Chairman urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of saving, saying, consistent savings was important to improving household financial security and reducing poverty.
He said the country’s macroeconomic environment had improved in 2025, with headline inflation declining from 28 per cent in 2024, while the monetary policy rate fell from 27 per cent to 18 per cent.
He added that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth increased marginally from 5.8 per cent in 2024 to 6.0 per cent in 2025, while the Ghana cedi appreciated against the US dollar from about GHS 15 to US$1 in 2024 to approximately GHS 11 to US$1 in 2025.

Nana Dr. Appiagyei Dankawoso I, Guest Speaker, commended the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for reforms in the financial sector, particularly the transition of rural banks into community banks.
He said the reforms would strengthen the operations of the banks and enable them to expand their activities.
Nana Dankawoso said under the reforms, the minimum stated capital requirement for existing rural banks had increased from GHS 1 million to GHS 5 million.
He appealed to customers and shareholders of Nwabiagya Community Bank to increase their shareholdings to enable the bank to meet the BoG’s new minimum stated capital requirement by December 31, 2026.
He said meeting the new capital requirement would provide the bank with a stronger financial base to expand its operations and improve service delivery.
