NPP organiser demands recognition for projects initiated under former administration

By Prince Nornorme

Ve-Golokwati (V/R), Oct. 12, GNA – Mr Godwin Akpadzi, Afadzato South Constituency Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for recognition of the contributions of the party’s former administration to development projects recently commissioned in the district.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Ve-Golokwati, Mr Akpadzi said several of the infrastructure projects commissioned by the current District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Manfred Tawiah, were initiated during the tenure of the former DCE, Mr James Etornam Flolu.

He said due credit should therefore be given to the previous administration for laying out the foundation for the projects.

“The major infrastructure began during our tenure, so we must be credited,” Mr Akpadzi stated.

According to him, 17 out of the 20 projects recently commissioned across the district, representing about 85 per cent, were initiated under the leadership of Mr Flolu.

He explained that most of the projects had reached advanced stages before the former DCE left office and that his administration played a significant role in their execution.

Mr Akpadzi cited the four-bedroom District Coordinating Director’s (DCD) bungalow and the two-bedroom District Finance Officer’s (DFO) bungalow at Ve-Golokwati as among the projects initiated under the NPP administration.

He also drew attention to the uncompleted Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) office project located opposite the Police Station at Ve-Golokwati.

Mr Akpadzi appealed to the current DCE to ensure the completion of the facility to improve service delivery in the district.

He argued that while the current administration deserved commendation for completing and commissioning the projects, the former DCE and the NPP should also be acknowledged for initiating them.

Mr Akpadzi said development was a continuous process that transcended political administrations and that all contributions towards the district’s progress should be duly recognised.

He noted that portraying the projects as the achievement of a single administration would not present the full picture of their development history.

He therefore urged residents of Afadzato South to appreciate the roles played by both the previous and current administrations.

Meanwhile, Mr Tawiah has stated that the DCD bungalow and the two-bedroom DFO bungalow were only started under the previous administration and were not completed before it left office.

According to the DCE, the two projects represented only four per cent of the 20 projects commissioned and could not be described as substantially completed.

He maintained that the remaining projects were executed and completed under the current administration as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance living conditions in the district.

Mr Tawiah reiterated the Government’s and the District Assembly’s commitment to undertaking more development projects to meet the needs of communities across Afadzato South.
