Accra, Oct. 3, GNA – Singer Joshuanda and dancer Omar Teo Jnr emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Nescafé Ghana “My Coffee My Vibe” Campus Groove competition held at the weekend.
They received GH₵30,000 each, together with Nescafé products, as prizes for emerging winners in their respective categories.
Kweku Winna, who placed second, received GH₵10,000, while This Kid, who placed third, received GH₵5,000 to support their creative pursuits.
Ms Lily Boatemaa Ntim, Category Development Manager, Nescafé Ghana, told the media in Accra that the competition demonstrated the depth of creative talent within Ghana’s tertiary institutions while providing participants with an avenue to gain visibility and experience in a competitive entertainment environment.
She said the overall winners would also undertake a four-week mentorship programme as part of efforts to support the development of emerging creative talents.
Ms Ntim said the competition provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents in music and dance while encouraging young people to pursue their passions and remain committed to their aspirations.
She urged all participants, including those who did not make it to the final stage, to continue pursuing their talents.
“To the winner, and even for the people who didn’t make it, I will say that do not stop pursuing your passion. It is your authentic self,” she said.
She said the mentorship and technical training would equip the winners with additional knowledge and skills to support their growth in the creative industry.
The competition brought together young talents from Ghana’s tertiary institutions who showcased their abilities in music and dance, culminating in the grand finale.
Ms Ntim said the conclusion of the competition marked the end of the project but not the end of the organisers’ efforts to support young people and their creative aspirations.
