Let’s see China beyond the old perspective – Gao Jin

By Eric K. Amoh

Yiwu, (Zhejiang Province) Oct. 06, GNA – Mr Gao Jin, the Vice Mayor of the Yiwu City in Zhejiang Province of the people’s Republic of China, has called on the world to accept the reality that China is open to the world and must be viewed beyond the old perspective.

He said: “Let the world see China beyond the old perspective.”

Mr Jin indicated that the new China was modeled on friendship, openness and trust, and remained significantly critical and holistic in its quest to accept other nationals into its fold.

The Vice Mayor announced this in Yiwu at a high-powered forum of senior media practitioners and political party representatives drawn from 22 countries to observe progress and successes China had chalked so far in its development agenda.

The participants were in China at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The delegation was in China to observe, gather and report.

They traveled to about four provinces where they visited media houses to familiarise with some newsroom practices there, visited some technology and innovation industries, cultural and historic sites and educational, entertainment and economic hubs.

The delegation had one-on-one and group encounters with Provencial Mayors, the CPC party and government officials, and top government representatives to interact and understand the steps China had taken to open up more to the world and to embrace new ideas, and economic dynamisms.

Mr Jin described Yiwu as world capital of small commodities inspired by the unwavering dynamism in the works of the President of China, Xi Jinping, who doubles as the General Secretary of the ruling CPC in the People’s Republic of China.

The Vice Mayor said Yiwu presents wide range of trade commodities for households, institutions, and industry, manufacturing products including home gadgets and appliances, security installations, high resolution media equipment, daily needs items among others.

He added that the city was recognised as the world’s wholesale market for small commodities, using such advantage to rake in more than $115 billion annually in trade.

He said as a stratified economic hub of China, Yiwu host more than 13,000 foreign nationals and has several colours Integrating, thereby giving the city a deserving warmth, equality, and integrity where hospitality is a hallmark, in sharing the development success with its partners. That, he indicated, confirmed its oneness to the world and readiness to embrace the world for business.

He said the people of Yiwu believe in small commodities as its business drivers and understand the philosophy of “creating something out of nothing” with bigger consideration for trade digitisation and fast regularisation for entrepreneurs and ensuring that it served as a one-stop shop for small commodities to the world.

He noted that the world had eventually come to accept Yiwu as a cradle for small commodities, where that small community which engaged in “barter trade” for survival about few decades ago where the natives exchanged other goods for chicken feathers had risen today to be the world’s small commodities hub.

Mr Jin said China had moved on after decades of proper preparations to penetrate the world economy, and to distinguish itself as a modest nation, deriving inspiration from its leaders, its culture, history, as well as its peoples’ determination to develop in their own rights.

The Yiwu Vice Mayor Called on the media to “let the world see China beyond the old perspective”, and help to correct the wrong, wild untruth, and untenable impressions western media had unjustifiably impugned to the world that China was unsafe and unwelcoming.

He explained “China beyond the old perspective”, to mean effectively opening up its markets to the world, utilising a market area of more than eight million square metres with profound comprehensive business development experience, “where small commodities are structured to break into wider world markets for general benefit of humanity and the world”.
