Akatsi (VR), Oct. 24, GNA – There is a heavy security presence at the Long Hall of the Akatsi Senior High Technical School ahead of the Akatsi South Constituency executive elections, with personnel from the Ghana Police Service, National Security, and others deployed to maintain law and order.

A total of 1,206 delegates from five zones, namely Gefia, Akatsi, Wute, Avenorpedo and Avenorpeme, are expected to cast their ballots to elect executives to various constituency positions.

Chief Superintendent Ernest Kodjo Dokounon, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, in a short parade ahead of the exercise, urged the officers to exhibit high standards of professionalism throughout the electoral exercise.

The elections are to be conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), under the supervision of the party’s Election Directorate and regional party representatives.

Several political figures have also arrived at the venue ahead of the exercise to ensure proper coordination and support the smooth conduct of the polls.

The heightened security presence follows earlier reports within the constituency suggesting that the elections could be keenly contested and would require adequate security arrangements.

The exercise follows the completion of the nomination and vetting processes, with 54 aspirants reported to have filed to contest various positions in the constituency.

Mr Obed Agbozo, the Constituency Election Director, is overseeing the electoral process.

The elections are expected to determine the constituency’s leadership and shape the organisation of party activities at the grassroots level.
