Tema West MP urges competent NDC executives to retain seat

Tema, Oct. 24, GNA — Mr James Enu, the Member of Parliament for Tema West, has urged NDC delegates to elect competent, committed and dedicated executives capable of strengthening the party and retaining the constituency seat in the 2028 general election.

Mr Enu told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that the choice of constituency executives was critical to building an effective party machinery capable of mobilising supporters, coordinating activities at the grassroots and ensuring the party remained competitive ahead of the 2028 elections.

He made the call during the NDC constituency executive elections and described the elections as competitive but expressed confidence that delegates would elect candidates with the capacity and commitment to serve the interests of the party.

The MP said the NDC had, for the first time, won the Tema West parliamentary seat, making it important for the party to put in place competent leadership to consolidate the achievement, urging the delegates to consider the commitment, capacity and willingness of the various aspirants to work for the party when making their choices.

According to him, the party needed executives who were prepared to sacrifice and dedicate themselves to party work rather than individuals interested only in holding positions.

He also called for unity and cohesion among the constituency leadership, saying internal disagreements could undermine the party’s chances of retaining the seat.

He said the constituency leadership, including the executives, the MP and the Municipal Chief Executive, must work together to strengthen the party at the grassroots, stating that “one of the most important things in party work is unity and cohesion”.

The MP further called on all aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcome of the elections and work together after the exercise, saying that although the elections would produce winners and losers, the ultimate objective should be a victory for the NDC.

He expressed confidence in the delegates, saying they were capable of making the right choices and electing executives who could effectively steer the affairs of the constituency, and wished all the aspirants well, describing the election as peaceful.

The MP provided water, soft drinks and food at a stand on the election grounds for participants who wished to have them.
