Manso-Adubia (Ash), Oct. 02, GNA – Mr Akwasi Abu, Manso-Adubia former Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on aspirants, delegates and supporters of the party to work to ensure peaceful, free and fair national elections in Kumasi.
He said it was important for all aspirants and their supporters to put aside their differences, avoid actions that could create tension and work together to strengthen unity in the party.
The NPP is scheduled to hold its national elections in Kumasi on Saturday, October 03, 2026, to elect national executives, who will lead the party in the next four years.
Mr Abu said the election should be conducted in an atmosphere of peace, tolerance and mutual respect, stressing that party members must prioritise the collective interest of the NPP over individual ambitions.
According to him, there was no justification for hooliganism, intimidation or any other conduct that could disrupt the electoral process.
He, therefore, appealed to all aspirants and delegates to exercise restraint and ensure that the election was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
Mr Abu also urged the aspirants to avoid campaign insults, personal attacks and inflammatory remarks that could create divisions among party members.
He cautioned aspirants against allegedly offering money or other inducements to individuals to influence the electoral process, saying, such actions could undermine the credibility of the election.
“We want a peaceful election, and I urge all the aspirants and delegates to conduct themselves responsibly and avoid anything that can create confusion,” he said.
Mr Abu further called on the organisers and stakeholders to ensure that the election remained transparent, free and fair, while allowing delegates to exercise their right to vote without intimidation.
He urged delegates to carefully consider the competence, commitment and ability of the various aspirants before casting their ballots.
According to him, the party needed dedicated leaders, who would work diligently to strengthen its structures, unite members and serve the interests of the NPP.
Mr Abu said he expected the successful aspirants to demonstrate commitment to the party and deliver dedicated service to its members.
He also appealed to unsuccessful aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcome of the election and support the elected executives for the sake of party unity.
He stressed the need for all members to bury their differences after the election and work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr Abu said a peaceful and credible election would provide the foundation for greater unity and cooperation among party members as the NPP prepares for the next electoral cycle.
He, therefore, urged all delegates, aspirants and supporters to make the national election a demonstration of the party’s commitment to democratic principles, tolerance and peaceful political participation.
