Bekwai (Ash), Oct. 15, GNA – Mr Ralph Poku Adusie, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai, has donated GHS 100,000.00 to the Bekwai Municipal Hospital to support the procurement of essential medical equipment.
The donation, according to the MP, forms part of a promise he made to the people of Bekwai during his campaign for the parliamentary seat.
Mr Adusei said the gesture was aimed at helping improve healthcare delivery and ensuring that the Hospital had the necessary equipment to provide quality medical care to patients.
The MP also used the opportunity to inspect the ongoing construction of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology campus annex building, which is expected to serve as a facility for clinical training.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Bekwai Municipal Hospital, pledging to do more to help address the facility’s needs.
Dr Frank Serebour, the Medical Superintendent of the Bekwai Municipal Hospital, who received the money, expressed appreciation to the MP for financial support.
He, however, highlighted some of the major challenges confronting the Hospital, including the need for a bigger emergency unit, an isolation centre, and inadequate accommodation for staff.
He noted that addressing these challenges would help improve the Hospital’s capacity to provide healthcare services to residents of Bekwai and surrounding communities.
The Medical Superintendent expressed hope that further support from stakeholders would help the hospital address its infrastructural and logistical needs.
