Accra, Nov. 6, GNA – Ms Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has called for a more strategic and transformative partnership between Ghana and China, anchored on industrialisation, technology transfer and sustainable economic growth.

She said the two countries must move beyond traditional diplomatic relations to prioritise industrial capacity, human capital development, job creation and mutually beneficial cooperation.

“As we look to the future, there is the need to prioritise technology transfer, industrial capacity, human capital development, job creation, and sustainable growth,” she said.

Madam Gomashie said China’s development experience offered valuable lessons for Ghana, particularly in long-term planning and sustainable economic growth.

She was speaking at the opening of the China Governance and Worldwide Development Global Dialogue in Accra on Friday, hosted by China Media Group with support from the Chinese Embassy.

The event brought together experts to examine China’s governance experience, its implications for global development and the role of international cooperation in promoting inclusive prosperity.

The Minister said Ghana’s engagement with China should be guided by mutual respect, shared interests and partnerships that delivered benefits to both countries.

On the cultural front, she commended the Chinese Government for its decision to rehabilitate and modernise the National Theatre of Ghana.

The project, she said, would upgrade the facility’s infrastructure and technical capacity, strengthen its role as a centre for performing arts and create opportunities for artists and creative entrepreneurs.

Beyond preserving the national landmark, she said, the project would support the creative arts industry, promote cultural exchange and contribute to tourism development and economic growth.

Mr Cong Song, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, said the world was undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, but China remained committed to working with development partners to advance the development agenda of the Global South.

“China can only do well when the world is doing well,” he said.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working with Ghana to implement development projects that would improve the lives of the people.

Mr Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a socialist and veteran journalist, commended China for demonstrating solidarity with Africa in its development efforts.
