Asemko (W/R), Oct. 01, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, has inspected ongoing education infrastructure projects in some communities in the district.
The inspection formed part of measures to ensure that contracts for education infrastructure were being executed expeditiously by contractors and to ensure value for money.
At Bobrama, Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah, who is also the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, inspected works on a six-unit classroom block for the primary school which was at roofing stage.
The project, which started in less than 12 months, is left with fixing of windows, doors, screeding of the floor and painting before it would be commissioned and handed over to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for use.
Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah stressed the need to expand existing infrastructure in schools to cater for the ever-increasing enrolment of children.
At Asemko, the MP inspected works on an ongoing six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities such as an office, computer laboratory and toilet facilities.
The project, which started in August this year, was almost at roofing stage with the contractor on site every day.
Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah said the project was very critical as the school lacked basic infrastructure.
He expressed hope that in addition to a two-unit block for the Junior High School, the infrastructural deficit of the school would be minimized.
The MP expressed the desire to complete ongoing projects including legacy projects in the district.
Mr. Paul Kodwo Kwaw, Assembly Member for Kikam/Asemko Electoral Area, thanked Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah for the effort to include Asemko basic school in the budget of the District Assembly.
He said the challenges facing teaching and learning in the school would be a thing of the past when the project was completed.
