Akatsi (VR), Oct. 27, GNA – The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly has proposed GHS 31 million for the construction of a 24-hour economy model market at Akatsi.

The project formed part of government’s prioritised measures to expand trading opportunities and to stimulate local economic activities.

Mr Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the proposed investment formed part of the Assembly’s development priorities outlined in its 2027–2030 Composite Programme-Based Budget.

The project, listed among the Assembly’s key projects for 2027, was intended to enhance access to trade and commerce and provide an improved environment for economic activities in the Municipality.

The budget proposal also included GHS 700,000 for the construction of five 12-compartment market sheds at the main market, alongside GHS 1,450,000 for the rehabilitation of 10 VIP market sheds.

The Assembly has further proposed investments in education, including the construction of six-unit classroom blocks with offices and stores at Gornikope, Suipe and Kpodzivi, as well as the renovation of a six-unit classroom block at Afatsagbleve.

In the area of primary healthcare, the budget provided for the renovation of the Wute Health Centre, while a two-unit kindergarten block with an office and store was planned for Dzuepe.
