Tema, Sept. 10, GNA — Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has reiterated the assembly’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and supporting parents within the municipality.
Mr Totimeh, who together with Mr James, Enu, Tema West Member of Parliament, welcomed new pupils to school at the Aggrey Road Basic School, explained that the local government authority distributed essential learning materials to pupils across four public schools to alleviate the financial burden on families.
He noted that the provision of books, crayons, and other educational supplies, alongside minor refreshments, was designed to ease costs for parents while motivating children as they begin their formal academic journey.
The MCE observed that the enthusiasm, performances, and unique welcomes displayed by pupils reflected immense potential that requires continuous public investment.
Mr Totimeh assured residents that several key educational projects were progressing steadily, pointing out that the stalled Lashibi government school building project had reached 85 per cent completion and would be handed over before the end of the year.
He stated that the assembly had prioritised the immediate perimeter fencing and securing of public-school lands starting next week to prevent further encroachment by private developers.
The MCE reported that recent government distributions of school desks had significantly resolved seating deficits and replaced damaged furniture in various classrooms across the municipality.
Mr Totimeh emphasised that exposing pupils to practical skills alongside theoretical learning from a tender age remains vital to preparing them for diverse career paths beyond traditional office roles.
