Accra, Sept. 28, GNA — Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Sissala West, has called for calm following an alleged violent land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiiwii communities which claimed two lives on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
A press release issued by Mr Sukparu, the Member of Parliament (MP), and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said, “I am deeply saddened and concerned by the incident, which also left several others injured.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I also wish all those who sustained injuries a speedy and full recovery.”
According to the statement, Mr Sukparu, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, said the Regional Security Council and the District Security Council had deployed personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to the affected communities to restore and maintain calm while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
It urged residents of Buo, Tiiwii and neighbouring communities to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from any acts of retaliation, provocation or violence.
“At this difficult moment, we must resist actions that could further escalate tensions and result in additional loss of lives and destruction of property,” it cautioned.
Describing himself as “a son of both communities”, Mr Sukparu appealed to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, women and all stakeholders to use their influence to promote peace and prevent further escalation.
“Whatever differences exist between us, no land or boundary dispute is worth the loss of another human life,” it emphasised.
The Sissala West MP further called on all parties and residents to fully cooperate with the security agencies and support their investigations, urging anyone with relevant information to make it available to the appropriate authorities to assist in establishing the facts surrounding the incident and ensuring due process is followed.
