Accra, Sept. 28, GNA-The Immanuel Temple Assembly of Royalhouse Chapel International (RCI) at East Legon in Accra, has donated food and other essential items to the Motherly Love Orphanage at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency said the items included bags of rice and sugar, cooking oil, crates of eggs, drinks, biscuits and other food supplies.
The donation formed part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the Assembly and was made during a visit by members to the orphanage on September 21.
The visit also formed part of activities commemorating the 40th wedding anniversary of the Founder of RCI, Apostle General Sam Korankye Ankrah, and his wife, Apostle Rita Korankye Ankrah.
The delegation, led by the Senior Pastor of Immanuel Temple, Apostle Derek Amanor, and his wife, Reverend Dela Amanor, spent time with the 67 children at the facility and prayed with them.
Apostle Amanor, who is also the General Secretary of RCI, said the visit was intended to provide practical support to the children and offer members an opportunity to fellowship with them.
“We had a very wonderful experience with them, praying for them and speaking into their lives,” he said.
He called on other organisations and individuals to support the orphanage to meet the needs of the children.
“We hope and pray that other organisations will also follow suit,” he added.
Rev John Azumah, the Chief Executive Officer of Motherly Love Orphanage, expressed appreciation to Immanuel Temple for the donation, but identified feeding as the major challenge confronting the facility.
“Feeding is the number one challenge,” he said.
He said the orphanage also required support to pay school fees and provide books, medication and clothing for the children.
Rev Azumah said seven of the children were currently at the university, while 15 were in senior high school, with the others at the junior high and primary school levels.
He said the orphanage operated from rented premises and needed support to complete a permanent shelter for the children.
He said the project required building materials, including cement, iron rods, sand and stones.
Rev Azumah said the orphanage was established to provide shelter and care for children with special needs.
He commended Immanuel Temple for the gesture, saying the donation would contribute to improving the welfare of the children.
He also acknowledged the contribution of Rev Mrs Rita Korankye Ankrah, President General of the Royal Ladies Ministries, to initiatives aimed at empowering women in the country.
