Dambai (O/R), Sept. 19, GNA – Mr Safo Nketia, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, has inspected ongoing construction works on a ward block at the Dambai Polyclinic to improve healthcare infrastructure and service delivery in the Municipality.
The project is expected to strengthen the facility’s capacity to provide inpatient and other essential healthcare services and reduce referrals to health facilities outside the Municipality.
Krachi East, carved out of the former Krachi District more than two decades ago, has Dambai as its administrative capital but has no hospital.
Despite the expansion of health services in the Municipality over the years, it is yet to have a municipal hospital, resulting in some cases being referred to health facilities in neighbouring districts, including Nkwanta South, Biakoye and Krachi West.
During the inspection, Mr Nketia urged the contractors and artisans working on the project to adhere to approved construction standards and use quality materials to ensure the facility’s durability and safety.
He said the Assembly remained committed to supporting interventions that would improve access to quality healthcare and reduce challenges associated with referrals.
Mr Abdul Muntalabi Amin, Krachi East Municipal Health Director, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that completing the project would significantly enhance the capacity of the Dambai Polyclinic and reduce cases requiring referral outside the Municipality.
He said the facility was designed to provide a range of services, including accommodation for male and female patients, children and other categories of patients.
The project also includes outpatient facilities, a surgical theatre and other supporting units to strengthen healthcare delivery.
The project was initiated under the previous administration and is being continued under the current administration as part of efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and access to services.
The development forms part of broader efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and bring essential services closer to residents of Krachi East.
