Sefwi Wiawso (WN/R), Sept. 30, GNA –The Western North Regional (WNR) Branch of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has honoured 20 individuals and institutions at the 2026 Western North Regional Tourism Awards.
Sixteen competitive awards and four honorary awards were presented to deserving recipients for their contributions to the tourism and hospitality industry in the region.
The event, held on the theme “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders – The Black Star Experience,” saw winners presented with plaques and citations in their respective categories.
They included Aduaddae Hotel and Restaurant, 2-Star; Safari City Hotel, 1-Star; Joren Hotel, Guest House; Papa Yebre Hotel Annex, Budget; PM Hospitalities and Rentals, Service Apartment; and Emmanuel Actual Hotel for Good Corporate Organization.
Others were My Good Food Chefelisha for Restaurant Grade 2; S.K. Superb Gardens, Restaurant Grade 3; Mother’s Inn for Traditional Chop Bar; while Rock East Bar emerged winner in the Night Club/Pub category.
The rest were Bia National Park for Visitor Attraction; Francis Elluo, Principal Resource Guard; Digital Tourism Icon; Matthew Ahiaveh; Media General TV; and Tourism Media House went to Unique FM, among others.
For the honorary awards, Most Compliant Tourism Facility of the Year went to Royal Home Comfort Hotel; Sikafoantem Lodge picked Best Adjusted Energy Investment of the Year, while Hannah Ama Asoh picked Woman Entrepreneur of the Year and Elder Nana Ramus Kwofie, CEO of Queen Elizabeth Hotel, picked the Most Outstanding Tourism Personality of the Year.
Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, Western North Regional Minister, commended the organizers for creating the platform to acknowledge hard work, professionalism and innovation in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Mr. Brentum emphasized that the Western North Region was richly endowed with natural, cultural and historical resources which provided opportunities for investors.
He congratulated the awardees and urged them to maintain high standards.
He also pledged that the Regional Coordinating Council was ready to collaborate with major stakeholders to improve upon tourism in the area.
Some of the awardees, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, lauded the GTA for the initiative and expressed hope that it would motivate them to improve upon quality-of-service delivery.
