Kumasi, Sept 25, GNA – The U.S Embassy in Ghana has organized the 2026 EducationUSA College Fair in Kumasi featuring over 30 United States of American colleges and universities to guide students to make educational decisions.
Ghana currently has two EducationUSA centers in ACE Consult Accra and at ACE Consult in Kumasi, which guide qualified individuals to be successful applicants to U.S colleges and universities.
Ms. Pam De Volder, Public Affairs Officer, U.S Embassy, Accra at the opening of the event, said the U.S placed emphasis on education, liberty, opportunity and the conviction that “where one starts does not have to determine where they end up and that believe sits right at the heart of American higher education”.
It was for such reasons, that the state through their approved centers normally organize educational fairs for students across the world to know more about opportunities in education that exists for them.
She indicated the college fair also helps to strengthen bilateral relationships by connecting students across the country with the accredited American universities and colleges.
Ms. Volder commended Ghana for continuously expressing interests in educational opportunities, adding that, Ghana was currently the second highest sender of students in sub-Saharan Africa to the United States.
“It reflects the importance Ghana places on education, self-improvement, developing the country, building relationships and partnerships through research to make the country successful”.
She encouraged students to begin to imagine how education could help them contribute to communities and Ghana’s future developments.
The Public Affairs Officer appreciated support from the government through the Ministry of Education in organizing students, guardians and counsellors to interact about their interests and dreams of studying in the United States of America.
Madam Marylyn Owusu, Executive Director, ACE Consult, explained that with currently about 13, 000 students from Ghana studying in the U.S, depicted that, the College Fairs being organized over the years was not just for the academically excellent, rich or otherwise, but afforded everybody the opportunity to show up.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, cautioned that higher learning should not be bounded by the boundaries of countries since we lived in a global community, but rather, encourage peer to peer training and knowledge transfer across borders.
He assured EducationUSA and the U.S Embassy of the region’s full support with regards to extending education advice to prospective students.
