Obuasi (Ash), Sept. 25, GNA – Mr William Kofi Adzowu, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, has welcomed newly admitted kindergarten (KG) pupils to school as part of activities marking “My First Day at School” in the Municipality.
The exercise formed part of efforts by the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly to encourage school enrolment and create a positive learning environment for children beginning their formal education.
The MCE, accompanied by the Municipal Director of Education, Mr Kwabena Owusu Nketia; Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Richard Blevi; and officials from the Education Directorate and the Assembly, visited Mampamhwe M/A School, Domeabra KG School and Diawoso M/A School.
Mr Adzowu interacted with the pupils and encouraged them to take their education seriously, assuring them of the Assembly’s commitment to supporting their development.
“Education is the greatest tool you will ever be given.
“Looking at your bright faces today, I don’t just see children in a classroom; I see future doctors, engineers, teachers, and leaders of Obuasi East and Ghana.
“Focus on your studies, listen to your teachers, and dream big. We are here to support you every step of the way,” Mr Adzowu told the pupils during an interactive session.
He said education remained a priority of his administration and pledged continued investment in learning infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, and the welfare of children across the Municipality.
Mr Adzowu also appealed to parents to ensure that all children of school-going age were enrolled in school to give them the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for their future development.
As part of the exercise, the Assembly presented the newly admitted pupils with books, pencils, fruit drinks, biscuits and other learning materials.
Mr Kwabena Owusu Nketia, Municipal Director of Education, commended the Assembly for the initiative and said collaboration between the municipal authorities and education managers was important to improving enrolment and promoting quality early childhood development.
He said sustained attention to early childhood education would help provide children with a strong foundation for their subsequent educational development.
