Akatsi (V/R), Aug. 1, GNA – Winners Co-operative Credit Union Limited (WINCCU) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development with a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at supporting education, security, sanitation and other public institutions within its operational areas.
The initiatives, announced at the Union’s 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Akatsi, form part of its 2026 strategic priorities and underscore its commitment to creating lasting value beyond the provision of financial services.
Mr Samuel K. Avevor, Chairman of the Board of Directors of WINCCU, said the Union had consistently invested in the welfare of communities and institutions within its catchment areas in line with the cooperative principle of social responsibility.
He said during the 2025 financial year, the Union supported the Akatsi South Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service during its Annual Kiddie and Cultural Festival and also provided financial and material assistance to individuals, communities and institutions.
Mr Avevor announced that the Board had earmarked a number of community projects for implementation in 2026 to enhance security, education, and sanitation in the municipality.
He said the Union would donate two new motorbikes to the Akatsi District Police Command to strengthen security patrols and support crime prevention efforts within the municipality.
Mr Avevor stated that WINCCU would also donate 200 bags of cement and two truckloads of double-axle tipper chippings to the Akatsi College of Education to support the construction of a modern toilet facility for staff.
He added that the Credit Union would assist the Anyidzime Community in the rehabilitation or replacement of its public Kumasi Ventilated Improved Pit (KVIP) facility to improve environmental sanitation and public health.
Mr Avevor said WINCCU would continue to support essential public service institutions within its operational areas, subject to available resources.
He noted that the CSR interventions reflected the Union’s commitment to improving the socio-economic well-being of residents and complementing government efforts towards sustainable community development.
Mr Avevor also expressed appreciation to members, staff, development partners and other stakeholders for their continued support, saying the Union would remain committed to balancing financial growth with meaningful investments in the communities it served.
