Wenchi (Bono), Aug. 6, GNA – Chief Superintendent George Kwakye, Wenchi District Police Commander in the Bono Region, has appealed for logistical support to enhance proactive crime fighting in the Wenchi Municipality.

He said the command’s operational jurisdiction covered more than 100 towns and villages, but the lack of patrol vehicles and other operational logistics was hampering effective policing.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wenchi, C/Supt Kwakye said it was unfortunate that the command did not have a single operational vehicle for patrols despite rising crime in the area.

“In fact, the lack of a police vehicle is impeding modern policing here,” he said.

He explained that the situation was affecting rapid response to emergencies, routine patrols, and general crime prevention efforts.

C/Supt Kwakye appealed to businesses, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the Wenchi Municipal Assembly to support the command with the needed logistics.

He also appealed to the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to assist the district police in command, stressing that it urgently required an operational vehicle to strengthen crime control in the municipality.
