Dambai (O/R) Aug 03, GNA – Thousands of young people are expected to benefit from a free vocational skill training programme in liquid soap and bar soap production during the 2026 National Congress of the Bassare Youth Association (BAYA).
The congress is scheduled o take place next month, September 2028, in Kpandai in the Northern Region.
The initiative forms part of the Association’s efforts to promote youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among members of the Bassare community across Ghana.
Madam Zara Nyamba, a leading advocate of the Bassare Youth Association, announced the initiative on the Association’s national communication platform, saying the skills training was designed to equip participants with practical knowledge that would enable them to establish small-scale businesses or improve their income-generating activities.
She explained that the training would be offered free of charge to all interested participants attending the Congress, adding that the programme was intended to address youth unemployment by providing marketable vocational skills.
Madam Nyamba said many young people possess the potential to become economically independent but often lack access to practical training and start-up opportunities.
She expressed optimism that the training would inspire participants to venture into soap production, a business with growing demand in both urban and rural communities.
According to her, the Association considers youth development a key priority and remains committed to implementing initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods and strengthen the socio-economic well-being of Bassare communities.
She encouraged Bassares from all parts of the country to participate actively in the National Congress, describing the event as an important platform for promoting unity, networking, cultural preservation and community development.
Madam Nyamba said, in addition to the skills training, participants would have the opportunity to engage in discussions on issues affecting the development of the Bassare people and explore strategies to enhance education, entrepreneurship and social cohesion.
“The Association remains committed to creating opportunities that will empower our youth and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of our communities,” she said.
The Bassare Youth Association’s National Congress is expected to attract members, traditional leaders, professionals, students and other stakeholders from across the country to deliberate on matters affecting the growth and development of the Association while strengthening unity among the Bassare people.
