By James Esuon

Gomoa Brofoyedur (C/R), Aug. 22, GNA – Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, President of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, has commended the Asihene, Nana Esuon Abonyi Kwaata II, for his unwavering support and immense contributions to the development of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.

He described Nana Abonyi Kwaata, who is also the Chief of Gomoa Brofoyedur and the most senior divisional chief in the traditional area, as a dedicated traditional ruler whose efforts had elevated chieftaincy administration and strengthened traditional governance.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah made the remarks during a durbar of chiefs and people of Brofoyedur held to mark the 2026 Stool Feasting Festival in the Gomoa Central District.

The Paramount Chief, who is the immediate past President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, said Nana Abonyi Kwaata had supervised the selection and installation of about 200 sub-chiefs in various towns and communities, bringing honour and prestige to the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area.

He noted that the Traditional Council had successfully conducted the mass swearing-in of all the sub-chiefs without any challenges, thereby strengthening chieftaincy administration and promoting peaceful coexistence among chiefs, family heads and elders.

According to him, the achievements had contributed to development, unity, peace and transformation across the traditional area.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah further praised the Asihene for his maturity, humility and dedication to duty, saying his leadership had significantly contributed to the reduction of teenage pregnancy cases in Gomoa Brofoyedur.

He recalled that in previous years it was common to find pregnant candidates sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), but that situation had changed considerably.

The Paramount Chief said although Nana Abonyi Kwaata faced a protracted chieftaincy dispute about seven years ago, he remained focused on community development and continued to initiate projects to improve the living conditions of the people.

He urged citizens of the area to support the chief and development committees to complete ongoing projects and embark on new initiatives to improve the town.

For his part, Nana Abonyi Kwaata II expressed gratitude to Obrempong Nyanful Krampah for his exemplary leadership and effective chieftaincy administration, which, he said, had made chiefs under his authority proud.

He expressed optimism that traditional leaders in the area would continue to support the Paramount Chief in his efforts to advance development.

Nana Abonyi Kwaata disclosed that residents of Brofoyedur had mobilised resources through fundraising activities and contributions during Akwambo festivals to construct an ultra-modern community centre.

He added that the community had also undertaken the construction of a 21-seater water closet toilet facility as a self-help project to eliminate open defecation and promote good sanitation practices.

The Asihene said he was particularly delighted that there was no pregnant candidate among the town’s 2026 BECE candidates, describing the achievement as a major milestone in the promotion of girl-child education.

He called for unity, mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence and a collective commitment to development, stressing that these were essential for social cohesion and prosperity in the community.
