Tamale, Aug. 16, GNA – Alhaji Mohammed Baatima Adam, incumbent Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been re-elected for another four-year term.
He polled 215 votes at Saturday’s Northern Regional Delegates Conference of the NPP to defeat Alhaji Inusah Amadu, his closest challenger, who secured 122 votes.
This was the second time Alhaji Adam, popularly known as Chairman Samba, had defeated Alhaji Amadu, also popularly known as Dagomba Boy, in the Regional Executive Elections.
The Regional Secretary position was contested by two candidates, with Dr Abdul Rahman Karim Kpala polling 324 votes to defeat Dr Fuseini Bawah Zakaria, who secured 63 votes.
Professor Hudu Zakaria, the incumbent Regional Secretary, did not seek re-election.
Alhaji Salifu Abdul Rashid, the incumbent Regional Organiser, went unopposed, as did Sayibu Yussif Danjumah, the incumbent Regional Director of Communications.
In the Savannah Region, Alhaji Iddrisu Sulemana, the incumbent Regional Chairman, polled 192 votes to defeat Dr Clifford Braimah, immediate past Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, who secured 188 votes.
