Garu (U/E), Aug. 18, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged young people to collaborate with government institutions, traditional authorities, civil society organisations and private businesses to address challenges confronting their communities.

Mr Samuel Akolgo, Garu District Director of the NCCE, said such partnerships would enable young people to contribute meaningfully to community development and help create peaceful, inclusive and sustainable communities.

He made the call when the NCCE engaged community members and artisans in the district as part of activities to mark the 2026 International Youth Day, on the theme: “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology and Partnerships.”

Mr Akolgo said International Youth Day provided an opportunity to recognise the important role of young people in society and draw attention to issues affecting them.

He said the day also reminded governments, communities and young people of the need to create opportunities for youth participation and development.

The District Director encouraged the youth to work with government institutions, relevant stakeholders and fellow young people to identify and address challenges affecting their communities.

He urged them to use technology responsibly to promote peace and development, build partnerships across communities, and encourage tolerance, responsible citizenship and mutual understanding among people from diverse backgrounds.

Mr Akolgo further encouraged young people to actively participate in decision-making processes and contribute their ideas to national and global discussions.

He said digital platforms could be used to share positive messages and counter misinformation, hate speech and other harmful content capable of creating conflict.

Mr Ali Nashiru, Civic Field Officer of the NCCE, said technology provided young people with opportunities to acquire new skills, promote businesses, access information, apply for opportunities and connect with people across Ghana and beyond.

He encouraged the youth to actively participate in civic life, develop useful skills and use technology responsibly to contribute to national development.

Mr Nashiru said young people had an important role to play in building peaceful, inclusive and sustainable communities.

Mr Akolgo cautioned the youth against spreading misinformation, cyberbullying, insults, hate speech and other content that could create conflict, urging them to verify information before sharing it online.

He said responsible use of technology and meaningful partnerships among young people and other stakeholders could help address community challenges and accelerate development.
