By Kingsley Mamore, GNA

Kete Krachi (O/R), Aug 3, GNA – The Krachi West Municipal Assembly has intensified infrastructure development across the municipality under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Prosper Addo.

The initiative spans major investments in education, healthcare, water, security, electrification and community development.

The projects, undertaken within the past year, are aimed at expanding access to essential public services, improving living standards and promoting sustainable socio-economic development in both urban and rural communities.

In the education sector, the Assembly has completed and is undertaking several classroom infrastructure projects, including three-unit classroom blocks at Kpollo, Matekope and Ehiamankyene, as well as a kindergarten classroom block at Old Worotor.

A six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities has also been completed at Gyengyen to provide a conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

To address the shortage of classroom furniture, the Assembly distributed 830 mono desks, 163 hexagonal tables and 978 kindergarten chairs to schools across the municipality.

Healthcare delivery has also received a significant boost through the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and nurses’ accommodation at Mpli, Dadekro, Nkyenenkyene and Kadentwen.

Some of the health facilities have been fitted with mechanised boreholes to provide potable water, improve sanitation and encourage health professionals to accept postings to underserved communities.

The Assembly has also expanded access to safe drinking water by constructing mechanised boreholes at KTI, Sofoline and Gyanekrom, while drainage works and a hand-pump borehole have been completed at Gyanekrom to improve sanitation and environmental health.

To strengthen security, a new police station has been established at Ehiamankyene to enhance law enforcement and improve public safety.

Meanwhile, renovation works are ongoing on the Krachi West Municipal Assembly Hall in Kete Krachi and the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive.

Construction is also progressing on a durbar ground at Krachikrom to provide a suitable venue for traditional ceremonies, community gatherings and official events.

Other projects include rural electrification works at Chantai and Amewoyikope and the construction of a one-storey guest house with ancillary facilities at Talawudu to promote tourism and support local economic growth.

Residents who spoke on the development commended the Municipal Assembly for what they described as visible improvements in infrastructure and public services, expressing optimism that the projects would improve livelihoods and accelerate the municipality’s development.

Mr Addo attributed the progress to strong collaboration between the Municipal Assembly, the Member of Parliament, traditional authorities and other stakeholders.

He appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, residents and the youth to continue supporting the Assembly’s development agenda, stressing that peace, unity and collective responsibility remained vital to sustaining the municipality’s development gains.
