Dzodze (V/R), Aug. 11, GNA – Reverend Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, has led a joint team of engineers from the Urban Roads Department and the Ketu North Municipal Assembly to inspect two priority road projects earmarked for reshaping in the municipality.
The inspection covered the 3.5-kilometre Tadzi Junction–Tadzi Town–Kuli Junction Road and the 2.5-kilometre Kuli–Dzogbefume–Awayikope–Keta-Metsrikasa Road, both of which are expected to be reshaped to a width of 10 metres.
The team assessed the condition of the roads, identified drainage challenges and examined sections that become difficult or impassable during the rainy season.
The MCE and the engineers also interacted with residents and community leaders to better understand the challenges arising from the poor condition of the roads and their impact on economic and social activities.
Rev Amenaki said communities including Tadzi, Kuli, Dzogbefume and Awayikope had endured poor road conditions for years, making it difficult for farmers to transport produce to market centres, while traders incurred higher transportation costs.
He added that schoolchildren and other residents also faced difficulties travelling between communities, particularly during the rainy season.
“Good roads connect our farms to markets, our children to schools and our communities to opportunities. That is why we have moved quickly to address these feeder roads,” he said.
Following the inspection, Rev Amenaki announced the Pavic Construction Company Limited as the contractor for the reshaping of the 3.5-kilometre Tadzi Junction–Tadzi Town–Kuli Junction road.
Brieden Constructors Limited was also selected to undertake the reshaping of the 2.5-kilometre Kuli–Dzogbefume–Awayikope–Keta-Metsrikasa stretch.
He said both contractors were expected to mobilise to site during the week, with the objective of reshaping the roads to 10 metres wide and making them motorable within the next few months.
The MCE said the intervention formed part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to improving access roads and opening up major farming communities within the municipality.
He said improved feeder roads would enhance agricultural production and marketing, reduce transportation difficulties and promote economic activities across the municipality.
Rev Amenaki commended the Urban Roads Department for its technical support and appealed to chiefs, Assembly members and residents in the beneficiary communities to cooperate with the contractors to ensure the successful execution of the projects.
He said the Assembly would continue to identify and address critical road challenges to improve mobility and create better opportunities for residents of Ketu North.
