Gomoa Fetteh Karaka (C/R), Aug.11, GNA – A total of 2,053 students who pursued various under-graduate and post-graduate programmes at the KAAF University have been graduated at a ceremony for the 2025-2026 class.
They comprised of 1,953 undergraduate and 100 post-graduate students who successfully completed rigorous academic programmes designed to prepare them for the job market and the world at large.
Dr Francis Acheampong, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of KAAF University in his sessional address read on his behalf, stated that the graduation on the theme: “Transforming lives, Transforming colures,” was an important milestone in the institutional evolution of KAAF University.
This was because, for the first time in the history of the university, it conducted its congregation independently under its own academic authority, having successfully transitioned from the mentorship arrangement that supported its formative years.
“This achievement reflects our institutional maturity, and our capacity to uphold the highest standards of university education.”
The university before then, was affiliated to the University of Cape Coast and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He stated that, the 2025-2026 academic year was characterised by continued academic excellence, innovation and commitment to student-centered learning, culminating in the enrolment of 3,012 students across undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.
He said the enrolment profile continued to reflect increasing confidence in the university’s academic programmes and its growing reputation as one of the most important centers of higher education.
Prof Acheampong mentioned that the university achieved a significant academic milestone by receiving approval to offer the first ever Doctor of Philosophy programme in nursing that opened a new chapter in the university’s commitment, to advanced research, post-graduate education, and academic excellence.
In addition, it secured approval to introduce two new post-graduate programmes under the faculty of law, LLM and MSc in alternative dispute resolution, and LLM and MSc in environmental and resource management.
He announced that infrastructure development was a strategic priority for the University, as it continued to provide an enabling environment for quality teaching, learning, research and innovation.
During the period, Prof Acheampong said, an operational and modern kids center was commissioned to support staff, students and the surrounding community.
In order to strengthen the data for teaching and learning, the university procured 500 laptop computers currently in use across the institution.
The institution also made significant progress on several media infrastructure projects which include the construction of an ultra-modern engineering laboratory to strengthen STEM education, which is at 70 per cent completion.
He informed the gathering that, the university had secured another campus at East Legon, to accommodate the growing needs of its School of Law, demonstrating its continued commitment to extend academic facility in line with their strength and academic vision.
He further disclosed that during the period, the university launched “Agenda 20-31” strategic plan, providing a clear roadmap for transformation, academic excellence, research advancements, digital innovation, sustainably infrastructure development, internationalisation and enhanced student experience.
Dr Acheampong said, the implementation of the strategic plan would guide institutional decision-making, resource allocation, partnerships and performance improvement to transform the university into a globally competitive university using artificial intelligence.
“In recognition of the transformative role of technology in modern education and the future workplace, the university introduced the University wide Artificial Intelligence (AI) course for students at all academic levels to prepare graduates for the realities of the digital economy.”
According to him the initiative was designed to provide students across all disciplines with fundamental knowledge and practical understanding of AI, it applications, ethical considerations and impacts on society and professional practice beginning in 2026-2027 academic year.
The V.C further urged the graduates to be ambassadors and agents for transformation wherever they found themselves and continue to seek knowledge, explore new ideas and adapt to evolving ideas.
“Lifelong learning will keep you relevant and innovative and while at it, you must endeavour to uphold the highest ethical standards in all your dealings.
“Integrity is a precious asset that will earn you trust, respect, and success tthroughout your career,” he added.
