Frankfurt, Aug 21. (dpa/GNA) – A car drove into the wall of a department store, after apparently racing through a pedestrian zone in the German town of Hofgeismar, police said on Friday.
“Before that, the vehicle, which is said to have been travelling at high speed through the pedestrian zone, apparently struck several people,” police said. At least one person is said to have been injured in the incident on Friday morning.
“According to witnesses, the man had been experiencing medical problems immediately before the vehicle drove into the pedestrian zone,” the North Hesse police headquarters said.
Police and emergency services are on the scene in large numbers. The driver of the car is being treated by an emergency doctor.
According to police, there is as yet no clear information on the severity of the injuries sustained.
