Wenchi (Bono), August 11, GNA – The Institute of Local Government Studies (ILGS) has held a two-day capacity training workshop for newly elected Assembly Members (AMs) and government appointees in the Wenchi Municipality.
The training, supported by the Wenchi Municipal Assembly empowered the AMs on Ghana’s Decentralisation and Local Governance System, District Assembly concept, as well as their roles and responsibilities.
They were also taken through the Local Government and Administrative Laws, and the Model Standing Orders of the Assemblies.
Speaking at the closing session of the workshop, Mr Kwasi Ofei, a facilitator, commended the AMs for their comportment.
He urged them to participate actively in General Assembly meetings and provided feedback to their constituents as well.
Mr Henry Amewowor, the Presiding Member of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, expressed appreciation to the ILGS for the training, urging the organisers to continue with such training and to strengthen the capacity of the AMs in local government.
