Takoradi, Aug. 26, GNA – The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has commenced a two-day Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Workshop towards establishing a World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Regional Training Centre (RTC) in Ghana.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the proposed Centre and develop a shared vision for its establishment and operations.
A statement from the Communications Department of GMet said the initiative would strengthen specialised meteorological training and capacity development in Ghana and across the West African sub-region.
Participants were expected to explore opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaboration to enhance professional training and expertise in meteorology, weather and climate services.
The proposed WMO-RTC is also expected to build local and regional capacity to support the delivery of reliable weather and climate information for national development and decision-making.
The workshop forms part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position in meteorological capacity development and promote greater collaboration among institutions involved in weather, climate and related services.
The discussions are expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to identify priorities, opportunities and practical steps towards establishing the Centre.
