Ho, Aug. 24, GNA – Dr Robert Kofi Doh, a health practitioner and community advocate, has officially launched the “Tradesmen Empowerment Initiative,” to help artisans in the Ho Municipality scale up their businesses.
At the launch event, 34 artisans including masons, plumbers, tailors, hairdressers, barbers, electricians, carpenters, and mechanics, received critical livelihood improvement items designed to expand their enterprises.
Dr Doh explained that the initiative directly responded to the rising need to empower young people and women, providing them with economic opportunities that elevated their overall quality of life.
He said these artisans were vital pillars of the local economy, noting that skill without the requisite equipment severely limited productivity.
He indicated that the distributed tools were productive investments in livelihoods rather than mere gifts, explaining that the intervention reflected his core philosophy of addressing immediate community needs while simultaneously helping residents build sustainable, long-term livelihoods.
Dr Doh stated that societies required targeted interventions that simultaneously enhanced economic opportunity and the daily quality of life.
He stated that social interventions must champion empowerment over dependency, aiming to solve today’s pressing needs while equipping individuals with the capacity to build better future lives.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr Doh said the project was a personal contribution toward unlocking the untapped talents and economic potential of young people in the Municipality.
He urged the beneficiaries to maintain the equipment properly to improve the quality of their work, boost output, attract a wider clientele, and grow their businesses.
Dr Doh praised One Africa Market for their vital financial backing, stating that the project succeeded because the financial services firm provided funding support.
Madam Stephanie Oforiwah Asare, the Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator at One Africa Market, urged beneficiaries to embrace a strong maintenance culture to maximise the life and benefits of the tools.
Togbe Anikpi III, Divisional Chief of Ho-Heve, lauded the initiative and commended both Dr Doh and One Africa Market for their genuine commitment to uplifting the livelihoods of the people.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would forge a lasting, mutually beneficial partnership between the Ho-Heve community and One Africa Market.
Togbe Anikpi also appealed to One Africa Market for assistance to complete the stalled Ho-Heve community centre, which has faced delays due to funding constraints.
