Tema, Aug. 24, GNA – Sixteen companies operating within Ghana’s port and logistics sector are participating in the fifth edition of the LCB Corporate Games aimed at promoting physical fitness, teamwork and professional networking among industry players.
The 12 to 14-week competition is being held across the Accra and Tema zones, with the leading teams from both zones expected to meet at a grand finale to determine the overall champion.
The annual competition organised by LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited, provides employees of participating institutions with an opportunity to interact outside their usual work environment while promoting healthy lifestyles and stronger professional relationships.
The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) is among the participating institutions and has entered two teams from its fire department and mechanical department.
Ms Philomena Ocloo, an official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the games formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities and provided an opportunity to engage the wider business community.
Ms Ocloo said the initiative also helped create awareness about the company’s services, particularly disinfection, while providing a platform for social interaction among industry stakeholders.
Mr Felix Segbaya, another official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the competition was intended to strengthen the company’s relationship with its business partners beyond commercial engagements.
He said the sporting activities promoted good health and friendship among participating institutions and helped to strengthen business relationships within the sector.
The tournament will continue with fixtures in Accra and Tema before the leading teams advance to the grand finale.
The overall winner will receive GH¢20,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive GH¢10,000 and GH¢5,000, respectively, bringing the total prize money to GH¢35,000.
The organisers expressed the expectation that the fifth edition would further strengthen relationships among companies within the port and logistics industry while encouraging fitness, teamwork, and recreation.
