Sunyani, (Bono), Aug. 16, GNA – The 281 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region have retained Mr Kwame Baffoe, incumbent Bono Regional Chairman of the Party, in the Regional Executive Elections.
Popularly known in political circles as “Abronye DC,” Mr Baffoe polled 201 valid votes to retain the position in the election, which ended peacefully at the GNAT Hall in Sunyani.
His contenders were Mr Mahama Yaw Afful, a former Member of Parliament (MP) and former Deputy Minister of Aviation, who polled 44 votes; Mr Joseph Mensah, 31 votes; Mr Kwabena Oppong, three votes; while Mr Evans Afari Gyan had no vote.
The election, conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), recorded one rejected ballot.
Mrs Kate Amponsah was elected First Vice Chairperson with 252 valid votes to beat her only challenger, Mr Peter Asomah Boampong, who polled 29 votes.
The Second Vice Chairperson position went to Mr Kwaku Antwi Agyei, a legal practitioner, who secured 123 valid votes to beat his two contenders, Mr Issa Issaka, who polled 89 votes, and Mr Kwadwo Agyekum, 68 votes.
Mr Kofi Ofosu Boateng, the incumbent Secretary, retained his position with 187 valid votes, beating Mr Baffour Awuah, who polled 93 votes.
The Deputy Secretary position went to Mr Randy Issahaku, who secured 145 valid votes to beat Mr Stephen Opuni, who polled 135 votes.
Mr Abdul Razack was elected Organiser with 229 valid votes, beating Mr Bill Darlington, who secured 52 votes.
For the Communications Officer position, Mr Osman Faho secured 170 valid votes to beat his challenger, Mr Abubakari Yakubu, also known as “Baba Amando,” who polled 111 votes.
Mr Osman Faisal was elected Nasara Organiser with 177 valid votes, defeating Mr Bashiru Wahab, who secured 101 votes.
Madam Samira Sulley narrowly unseated Mrs Doris Asomah, the incumbent Women’s Organiser, polling 142 valid votes against Mrs Asomah’s 139 votes.
For the Treasurer position, Madam Veronica Tuffour secured 132 votes to beat her two contenders, Mr Henry Osei, who polled 123 votes, and Mr Kassim Siaka, who secured 125 votes.
Mr Ibrahim Bamba Dauda was elected Youth Organiser with 102 valid votes, defeating Mr Shadrach Abrefa Mensah, who polled 92 votes; Mr Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey, 58 votes; and Mr Baba Suwari, 29 votes.
Mr. Kennedy Opoku, Deputy Bono Regional Director of the EC, announced the outcome of the polls.
