Adaklu Waya (V/R), July 3, GNA – Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Adaklu, on Thursday donated assorted food items to the two senior high schools (SHSs) in the Adaklu District.
The items, valued at about GH¢40,000, comprised 50 bags of sugar, 50 cartons of tea bags and 126 cartons of milk for distribution between the two schools.
The beneficiary schools are Adaklu SHS at Adaklu Waya and Gbekor SHS at Adaklu Abuadi/Trisiefe.
Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, the Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), who presented the items on behalf of the Minister, urged the students, as future leaders of the country, to remain focused on their studies.
He said the Government was committing substantial resources to the education sector, adding that “such investment in you is an investment in the nation’s future.”
Mr Ameko, who is also the Dean of the Volta Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), appealed to the students to remain disciplined and refrain from acts that could jeopardise their future ambitions.
“Your attitude and the way you conduct yourselves, and not only your academic credentials, will help you achieve your goals,” he said.
The DCE said the future development of Adaklu depended largely on its human resource base because the district had no mineral deposits.
He, therefore, advised parents and guardians to continue investing in the education of their children to the highest level.
Mr Bright Agbesi Akatsi and Mr Louis Antonio, Headmasters of Adaklu SHS and Gbekor SHS respectively, expressed gratitude to Mr Agbodza for the gesture, saying his continuous support for the two schools had been remarkable.
They pledged to use the items for their intended purpose to benefit the students.
Mr Ameko was accompanied by some executives of the Adaklu Constituency of the National Democratic Congress.
