Mepe (V/R), July 7, GNA – Electricity supply has been restored to Ngorlekpoe and Zadola communities in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region after months of power outages caused by damaged transformers.

The restoration follows sustained engagements by the North Tongu District Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and key stakeholders in the power sector.

The development is expected to bring relief to residents and businesses that had been affected by the prolonged interruption in electricity supply.

In a statement announcing the restoration, the DCE expressed appreciation to the affected communities for their patience and understanding throughout the period of the challenge.

She said the intervention formed part of broader efforts by the government and local authorities to ensure reliable access to essential services and improve living conditions for residents.

Madam Doe acknowledged the contributions of President John Dramani Mahama, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and other stakeholders whose collaboration facilitated the successful restoration of power to the two communities.

“While we celebrate the restoration of power to Ngorlekpoe and Zadola, we remain committed to ensuring that Gbetekpo also receives the necessary intervention as soon as possible,” she stated.

She assured residents that the Assembly would continue to work closely with stakeholders to resolve developmental challenges and provide sustainable solutions to improve the welfare of people across the North Tongu District.

The restoration of power has been welcomed by residents who are expected to benefit from improved household activities, business operations, and access to essential services dependent on electricity.

The North Tongu District Assembly has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that communities within the district receive improved infrastructure and reliable public services through continuous collaboration with government agencies and development partners.
