Ho (V/R), July 24, GNA – Mr Richard Kwadekpo, Research and Elections Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region and Elections Committee Member, says all 30 aspirants who filed nominations to contest the party’s upcoming regional executive elections have successfully passed the vetting process.
Thirty-one party members initially picked up nomination forms when nominations opened; but only 30 submitted their forms before the deadline.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Kwadekpo explained that the vetting exercise, conducted from July 20 to 21, 2026 cleared all 30 aspirants to contest, with none being disqualified.
Mr Kwadekpo said the positions being contested include Regional Chairman (two aspirants), First Vice Chairman (three), Second Vice Chairman (three), Regional Secretary (two), Deputy Regional Secretary (three), Regional Women’s Organiser (three), Regional Youth Organiser (three), Regional Organiser (four), NASARA Coordinator (two), and Regional Communications Officer (three).
He said elections for the 11 elected executive positions are scheduled to take place on August 15, in line with the party’s electoral timetable, although the venue is yet to be confirmed.
Mr Kwadekpo noted that preparations for the elections were progressing steadily, explaining that some constituencies were finalising the appointment of eight additional constituency executives who would join the elected executives to complete the electoral college.
He said once all appointments were completed, the party would compile and release the final electoral register to all aspirants to enable them to campaign across the region.
According to him, the atmosphere within the party has remained peaceful throughout the nomination and vetting process, with no major challenges recorded.
“We expect all aspirants to conduct clean and issue-based campaigns by telling delegates what they have achieved, what they intend to do and why they deserve their support. They have all pledged to conduct peaceful campaigns,” he said.
Mr Kwadekpo expressed optimism that the elections would be peaceful, transparent and successful, and wished all aspirants safe travel as they tour the constituencies to canvass for votes.
