Bornikope-Ada, July 14, GNA — Legacy Football Club has called for increased investment in grassroots football, saying developing young players at the community level is essential to the growth of football in Ghana.
Mr Christopher Amenyah, the Chief Executive Officer of the club, said sustained support from corporate organisations, philanthropists and football enthusiasts would enable community-based clubs to identify and nurture talented young footballers.
Mr Amenyah made the call during the club’s anniversary celebration at Bornikope in the Ada West District of the Greater Accra Region.
According to him, the Legacy FC was established to identify, train and expose young players through quality coaching, education and competitive football while instilling discipline and positive character.
“Our dream was simple: to build a club that develops talent, wins with integrity and represents our community with pride. Two years later, we have established a strong foundation and continue to strive for even greater success,” he said.
Mr Amenyah said the club had already recorded some successes, including winning the 2025 Dangme Elite League title and reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 GAFEST Tournament at Sege.
He disclosed that three players from the club had secured transfers to Division Two clubs, describing the achievement as evidence of the club’s commitment to youth development.
Beyond football, he said the club had undertaken community service activities, including a clean-up exercise and donations to widows.
Mr Amenyah noted that Legacy FC viewed football not only as a sport but also as a tool for community development and social transformation.
The club currently operates a senior team, and youth teams at the Under-17, Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11 levels to identify and develop young talent.
He expressed optimism that the club would continue to produce players capable of competing at both the national and international levels while contributing to the socio-economic development of the Ada area.
