Accra, July 22, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), has ordained 18 pastors into full-time ministry after they completed a two-year probationary service.
The newly ordained ministers, made up of 14 men and four women, were admitted into the ministry during a ceremony at Adaklu Waya in the Volta Region.
Right Reverend. Dr. Lieutenant. Colonel. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd.), Moderator of the General Assembly of the EPCG, urged the pastors to serve as faithful ambassadors of Christ and the Church.
The pastors were admitted after taking vows of service and participating in rites of invocation and sanctification in accordance with the Church’s doctrine.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Agbeko urged them to work with traditional authorities, political leaders and opinion leaders to support development in the communities where they would serve.
He encouraged the pastors to extend their ministry beyond the pulpit by engaging in environmental sanitation and community development initiatives.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Agbeko charged them to uphold integrity, faithfulness, compassion, peace and unity in the performance of their duties.
The ordination ceremony coincided with the launch of the EPCG Five-Year Strategic Plan Implementation and activities marking the 170th anniversary of the Church’s establishment.
The event was attended by clergy, traditional authorities, political leaders, members of the Church and senior leaders of the Eglise Evangélique Presbytérienne du Togo (EEPT).
Mr Kwame Governs Agbodza, Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Minister for Roads and Highways, commended the EPCG for its contribution to national development.
He said the Church’s investments in education and other socio-economic sectors had contributed to promoting discipline, moral values and quality education.
The Minister announced the government’s intention to rehabilitate roads within Amedzofe in the Ho West District, where the E.P. College of Amedzofe (AMECO) is located, before the end of the year.
He said the project would improve accessibility to the institution and support development in the area.
The ordination forms part of EPCG’s efforts to strengthen evangelism, leadership development and community service across Ghana.
