Nkroful (W/R), July 07, GNA- Mr Theophilus Tamatey-Agbo, the Ellembelle District Planning Officer, has outlined the performance, challenges and prospects of the Ellembelle District Assembly, expressing optimism about development in the area.
Speaking at a town hall meeting at Nkroful, he said the Assembly executed 617 out of 708 projects and programmes between 2022 and 2025, representing 87.1 per cent.
For the 2025 Action Plan, the Assembly completed 170 out of 178 activities, with 13 ongoing and eight abandoned, representing a 95.5 per cent achievement rate.
On education infrastructure, Mr Tamatey-Agbo said the Assembly, through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), the MP’s Common Fund (MPCF) and Internally Generated Funds (IGF), had initiated the construction of a primary school block at Mandumgbane.
It had also initiated a six-unit classroom block at Nkroful Agricultural Senior High/Technical School (NASS), a six-unit classroom block at Bobrama, a kindergarten block at Kotokuom, a six-unit classroom block at Asomasi and a three-unit classroom block at Atababo.
On health, he said works had commenced on the Bebianiha and Bonsukrom Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds under the DACF.
He added that under the government’s Free Primary Health Care programme, 80,700 people, representing 60 per cent of the district’s population, had been enrolled onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) as of June 2026.
Touching on social protection, the Planning Officer said the Assembly had distributed items to support businesses and livelihoods. Communities including Kamgbunli, Azulenloanu, Salma, Aiyinasi-Nyamebekyere and Nkroful-New Site have also benefited from mechanized boreholes.
On sanitation, he said the Assembly had distributed six refuse containers, supplied waste bins to schools and carried out desilting of clogged drains.
Under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Mr Tamatey-Agbo said 26 kilometres of roads had been reshaped in January 2026.
He said under the government’s One Million Flagship Programme, 99 people had registered to pursue courses in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Analysis, among others.
On agriculture, the government had intensified the Feed Ghana Programme to ensure food security and sufficiency, he said.
The Planning Officer said Assembly Members had been paid their monthly allowance of GH¢1,100 for 2025, adding that the 24-Hour Economy Market was underway at Aiyinasi.
He said 1,120 residents had benefited from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme. Under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), 151 youth were trained, with 25 in dressmaking and 73 in community policing and the fire service.
Mr Tamatey-Agbo said the Assembly had earmarked 137 activities for execution to spearhead growth and development in the Ellembelle District.
He urged residents to honour their tax obligations and to desist from building on waterways to prevent floods.
