Accra, July 27, GNA – The Ministry of Education has presented 30 desktop computers and HP printers to Regional Directors of the Complementary Education Agency (CEA) to strengthen its operations.
The equipment is expected to support the Agency’s efforts to deliver literacy, numeracy and skills training to out-of-school learners and other beneficiaries across the country.
Dr Clement Abass Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, presented the items in Accra on Monday and said they would strengthen the Agency’s capacity to carry out its mandate.
He said the CEA played an important role in providing educational opportunities for school dropouts and others who had been unable to access formal education.
Dr Apaak said the Government remained committed to ensuring that every Ghanaian acquired basic literacy, numeracy and computer skills through the Agency.
He expressed confidence that the equipment would enable the Regional Directors to better support learners and prepare them for integration into the formal education system.
“Do not underate your work because it is very transformative, and we want you to be visible for Ghanaians to recognize your valuable role in society,” he said.
Dr Apaak pledged the Government’s continued support for the Agency, adding: “We will be monitoring your output because there are a lot of out-of-school Ghanaians who need special interventions.”
He charged the Agency’s leadership to develop a comprehensive database of out-of-school learners to support policy formulation and targeted interventions.
Dr Apaak said the Government was also working towards the passage of the Legislative Instrument required to fully operationalise the Complementary Education Agency Act, 2020 (Act 1055).
He urged the Regional Directors to make effective use of the equipment to improve operational efficiency.
Mr Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah, Executive Director of the CEA, said the equipment was intended for staff at the Agency’s headquarters and Regional Directors, adding that district offices would receive similar items in 2027.
He said the Agency planned to collaborate with software institutions to develop a database of learners to support planning and service delivery.
Mr Ashiamah appealed to corporate organisations and philanthropists to support the Agency’s work in functional literacy, skills development and out-of-school education.
Mr Samuel Mensah, Western Regional Director of the CEA, commended the Government for the presentation, saying the equipment would improve the Agency’s reporting system.
He said the regional office had prepared out-of-school learners from the Junior High School level to resit the Basic Education Certificate Examination.
