Adaklu Waya (V/R), July 2, GNA – Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adaklu, Wednesday asked Ghanaians to be perpetually grateful to God for the peace He bestowed on the country.
“The country may be facing economic challenges, but we should be perpetually grateful to God for the endless peace we are enjoying in the country,” he said.
Mr Ameko stated this at the Adaklu District National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at Adaklu Waya.
The Day was instituted by President John Mahama to be observed on July 1 of every year to coincide with the country’s Republic Day.
It is designed as an interfaith occasion for Ghanaians across all faiths to gather and pray for national prosperity, peace, unity and stability.
He recounted the number of incidents that occurred in the Adaklu District, including the recent mudslide that occurred at Adaklu Helekpe, but noted that “people were saved by divine intervention.”
Mr Ameko who is also the Dean of Volta Region MDCEs noted that it necessary that the people gathered and showed their appreciation and gratitude to God by singing praises and giving adoration to him.
He encouraged them to promote peace and unity for the stability of the country, adding “we need peace and unity if we want to move the country to the level we all want.”

He noted that they should also be obedient and loyal not only to God but also to those in leadership positions.
The DCE urge the people to fervently pray to God for all the needs of Adaklu, like roads, markets, hospitals, schools and other essential needs to materialise.
He advised them also to always keep their surroundings clean and shy away from building on waterways.
Mr Ameko asked Ghanaians to be grateful that President John Dramani Mahama was “leading them on the path of righteousness.”
Also, they should assist the President him in his Reset Agenda for the country.
Mr Ameko gave an assurance that the government was committed to completing the abandoned Agenda 111 Project in the district.
The DCE said the district would also benefit from the President’s Free Primary Health Care Programme assuring that the government would not forget them when sharing the national cake.
Reverend Caspar Awudey, the Pastor in charge of AdaKlu Waya District of the Global Evangelical Church, in a sermon, exhorted Ghanaians to love one another and work together for national development.
“Unity is the strength of every nation, and peace is the fertile land on which development thrives,” he noted.
He said national transformation and development could only materialise when individuals lived Christlike lives in their communities and workplaces.
Rev Awudey who is also Chairman of Adaklu Waya Local Council of Churches, urged Ghanaians to denounce the canker of corruption at their workplaces and promote national development over their individual interests.
Rev Michael Tsormenya of the Church of Pentecost led the people to pray for the President and all in leadership positions, peace, unity, and economic recovery for the nation, the youth, religious leaders and Adaklu.
